17. | | BRICK — Members of the Pioneer Hose Co. underwater
recovery team found a gun that was thrown in a lagoon off
Bayview Drive following a burglary Jan. 16.
Timothy Pfeifer, 26, Kentwood Boulevard, and
his wife Nicole Pfeifer, 21, were charged with the burglary
after an investigation by the township police department. The
husband-and-wife team allegedly broke into Mantoloking Motors,
Mantoloking Road, sometime between 3 p.m. and the following
morning, Jan. 16, Brick police Lt. Douglas Kinney said. The
pair stole an unspecified amount of money and the
handgun.
Police Detective Dan Waleski, who was doing
interviews at the scene Jan. 17, spoke with a witness who
reportedly saw the couple’s vehicle and someone running across
the lot. The witness identified the Pfeifers’ car, Kinney
said.
The gun was recovered from the lagoon by dive
captain Jim Hajeski of the Pioneer Hose Co. Kinney said the
search took place in a 75-foot area in 10-degree weather.
Hajeski found the gun in about 10 minutes.
Timothy Pfeifer, who has done car detailing
work for Mantoloking Motors, was released on $8,500 bail.
Nicole Pfeifer was released on her own recognizance.
The gun was not used in any other crimes,
Kinney said.
