The Brick Township Technical Rescue Team is a group of highly trained and motivated volunteer members of all three fire districts of the Brick Township Fire Department. The concept for the team started in 1995 with the Joint Board of Fire Commissioners addressing the mandates of the state of New Jersey to provide rescue capabilities for a confined space incident.

The team went into service in early 1996 after training to the technician level for confined space, acquiring the needed equipment, and converting a box truck donated by Fire District Two into a rescue vehicle.

The team has continued its training, adding high/low angle rope rescue, trench rescue, and basic building collapse rescue training to its response capabilities. The team will complete its building collapse training during 2003.

The teams equipment has outgrown the capacity of the 14 foot box truck, and we are currently in the process of “recycling” a 1976 Ford/Saulsbury 18' walk-in rescue truck. This truck has a long history in Brick Township, district 1's Pioneer Fire Company #1 initially purchased it new. it was then donated to the Brick Township Police for use as a mobile command post. The police in turn donated it to the Joint Board of Fire Commissioners for the Technical Rescue Team's use. We hope to have it in service in mid 2003.

The team is available to respond anywhere in Ocean County to assist at any confined space, high/low angle rope rescue, trench collapse or building collapse incident.
